Xebia IT is an, IT Services and IT Consulting firm headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, having India operations in Pune and Gurugram. Xebia specilizes in Continuous Delivery & DevOps, Agile Consulting, Enterprise Web Apps, Test Automation and Mobile development.
Traditional approach for enterprise grade Kubernetes setup offers a lot of challenges around (a) Complexity of Setup (b) Security Concerns (c ) Compliance and Governance (d) Integration with Existing Systems (e) Scalability etc. It also needs lot of manual, non widget configurations, which requires months for the set up.
Xebia IT approached Lepolabs with a single requirement – Design us a platform (which they named XLR8) that will make the Kubernetes set up a visual rich experience and make it as easy as a,b,c.

Our designers began by gaining a solid understanding of Kubernetes. With this knowledge and the current setup process in hand, we studied various ‘widget’-based configurations of SaaS platforms and several no-code platforms.
During this research, we noticed that these platforms often used transactional and unengaging language. This was something we aimed to change with XLR8.
We designed XLR8 with both novice and advanced users in mind. For novice users, we implemented a widget-based approach, while advanced users were provided with a JSON editor for setup. Additionally, we adopted a ‘conversational language’ instead of transactional language to create a more human-friendly experience. We focused on contextual actions instead of relying on a standard CTA button. Additionally, we provided image-based help in context, so users wouldn’t need to sift through lengthy documents when they encountered difficulties or needed more information
The result was award winning platform that made the enterprise grade Kubernetes set up a breeze. XLR8s won the ‘Best Tools for DevSecOps’ in DevOps India Summit, 2022, for saving hundreds of hours in setting up production-ready Kubernetes clusters, pre-integrated with a host of CNCF recommended solutions.
